How to Hygge Winter
Most people begin to experience winter blues symptoms in August. That's when mine always start. Is it the same for you?
So if you are finding this website before then, what I have read suggests that that is the best time to begin with treatment or prevention. If you have a light box, that might be the best month to start using it, even if it only for a few minutes a day.
If you are reading this during the winter, everything I have read suggests that using a light box and getting regular exercise are your best resources for lessening or treating winter blues, but check with your health care practitioner before starting anything new. I also believe that diving into hygge will help, and have dedicated thw website and blog to providing as much information as I can.
My first winter blues series, in November 2017, is here, here, here, here, here, and here. Then, I decided to dedicate the entire month of January to hygge + winter, so check out those posts, too.

Winter Blues & the Time When I Discovered What Hygge Could Do
Fall is my favorite season. If only it never faded into winter, my life would get A LOT easier. I am extremely sensitive to the loss of sunlight that happens every year, even here in the south. And for decades, once it hit, I didn't quite get my mojo back until spring has come and gone.
I tried lots of things that helped, but nothing was foolproof or perfect. So for a long time, I gave up.
But finally, I decided to try again and to give it everything I had. My determination, added to what I was learning about hygge, was igniting a kernel of hope that winter could get better.
"In 2013, I traveled to Copenhagen with a dear friend in search of Danish design and inspiration. There were candles everywhere - in windows, cafes and on every table; nooks with comfy pillows, timeless chairs, plenty of good food & happy people. This is where I found hygge. First I felt hygge without knowing that the word existed & then I discovered the word hygge, which sent sparks flying. It was as if I had found my life match, thus Hygge Life began." -Source
I felt and feel the same way. Hygge is a life match for me!
I decided to dive into hygge until I knew it like the back of my hand. I couldn't wait to see if it would help with fall & winter. And it worked.
So I want to share it with you!
Stay tuned as I add more info & resources for you. For a great introduction to hygge, if you aren't familiar with it, watch the video below.
Love to you this season and all year long!
